The farm yard of Lower Shirehill Farm near Bath had two long open – sided barns facing each other, with a change of level between. Our clients wanted to create a single-space party room and a covered barbecue and games space. The dairy barn on the south side of the courtyard was linked to the house with a open walkway, and a screen of sliding fully glazed doors was installed to allow the party room to operate either as an enclosed space or continuously with the terraced courtyard.
